Week 4 Run

Wow, had a sensational run on Tuesday! Originally planned on running 6 miles, but felt so great, so I went 7 miles. I felt great the next day too, thanks to my awesome stick and ball massage!!!

Week 3 Run

Today we ran 5 miles, and it felt great! So far I have been running by myself, but today I ran with 2 others on the Jumpstart team. I didn't think I would enjoy running with others, but it was really great and made the time pass much faster. We set a good pace and kept to it. While we had a 10:45 mile pace, the time is decreasing each run. My goal is to qualify for the 2013 marathon which would mean running this marathon in 3:40:00 - which means running a pace of 8:23:05 mile. Our running coach Rick, who is awesome, suggests anytime you set a goal you will usually achieve 10% above or below that goal. With that in mind, my goal will be to run 8:15 minute miles. We have 15 weeks left to train - this is very exciting!

Week 2 Run

2nd training run was great! Ran 6 miles in total during the week and 4 today. Learned about proper running shoes and the correct way to tie your laces :)

Week 1 Run

Our training group got together for the first time on Saturday, and will continue to do for the next 5 months until the marathon. We ran 4 miles. I learned so much from the 1st run:
~ This is going to be a long journey
~ I'm starving after running!
~ I need new shoes
~ I'm so proud to be running for Jumpstart, they are a great organization, based in Fort Point, that encourages volunteerism and helps our youth with literacy.
